About Me

I, Pooja Kashyap am a trained Mural and Tanjore painting artist. I received the certificates in Mural and Tanjore art from Maharaja College for Women, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.  For three years I also engaged myself in taking personal coaching from well known mural artists Ashokan, Naveen and Bindu P Nambiar from Kannur, Kerala. I also did a short term course in abstract painting from Delhi Polytechnic, South Extension. I have a good hand at Indian style paintings as well.

I started exhibiting my paintings on a solo basis in 2016. Since then I have held 5 solo exhibitions and participated in a number of group exhibitions. My paintings were also exhibited at a Boston art exhibition. I also taught painting at Nirbhaya centre for girls who were victims of sexual harrassment in Trivandrum. I have also been part of many art workshops, few held by Lalit Kala Academy as well in kerala.

Earlier, I worked as a senior correspondent with Times of India newspaper in Delhi for 7 years. Before that I was working as an English newsreader at All India Radio, New Delhi.  After getting a doctorate degree I started working with Centre for Development Studies Thiruvananthapuram as Research Assistant on an ILO project. During the lockdown, I utilized the time to write a book on Institutional History of Kerala Police.

A St. Stephen’s College alumni I received many awards in academics as well, apart from topping the Delhi University in History in MA exam.

I derive immense pleasure in travelling and meeting people. Singing is also a part of my hobby.
